9+ years

My name is Pramon.

I was discarded into the Temple puppy pen along with my 2 sisters. We were 3 weeks old and so weak. Headrock Dogs brought us to their Centre so they could take care of us 24/7. We suffered from diarrhoea and high fevers and needed lots of medication. Sadly one of my sisters had Encephalitis and she died.

I’m not strong either and suffer from a weak heart and chronic skin conditions. My front feet look like duck’s feet which the vet has said is due to collapsed carpals. There are very few surgeons who can perform this complex surgery and even then the chance of a successful recovery isn’t good. The pads on my back feet are full of lesions which make it feel like as though I’m walking on glass. Every other day my feet are sprayed with gentian violet to help heal the sores.

It’s believed that I have a condition called Discoid Lupus which is brought on by the sun: not ideal when you live in Thailand.

All my extremities are sore and painful. About 5 years ago the tip of my tail, my nose and my mouth were red and sore. My mouth was so sore I could hardly open it making eating very difficult. I had sores around my eyes and the tips of my ears then my feet began to get sores too. As you can imagine I was in a lot of pain.

Headrock Dogs have been treating my condition with vitamin B complex and B12 for and I have a special diet of rice with fish, fish oil and calcium which has helped improve my condition. As a precaution, I use sun protection too. Thankfully most of my bald patches that I had before I started my treatment have now disappeared.

During 2016 my teeth rotted and it was very difficult to eat even soft rice. The vet operated on me and removed about 12 teeth leaving my molars and canine teeth. Whilst my mouth was very sore for over a week, it wasn’t long before I could my food pain free. Now I can chew coconut husks which I love to do!

I’m about 8 years now and happy with my life at Headrock Dogs walking around on the soft soil and playing with coconuts. My condition will never improve but the nice people at Headrock Dogs have a health program for me which keeps my condition under control.
